Sharjah Airport Authority Opens the East Expansion Project

The Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA) inaugurated the East Expansion project, which extends over an area of 4000 m2. 

At a total cost of AED40 million, the project is a qualitative addition to the airport, contributing to enhancing its regional and global competitiveness. It is a stage within the comprehensive expansion plan with an aim of raising the airport’s capacity to reach 20 million passengers by 2025.

The expansion included a special service hall, which underwent comprehensive renovations to upgrade the level of services provided by the airport. Many other facilities underwent renovation and development, alongside the modern technologies used to enhance the level of services, in line with the airport's strategy to meet all the requirements of the aviation sector, within the highest international standards.

H.E. Ali Salim Al Midfa, chairman, Sharjah Airport Authority, said, “The completion of the East Expansion Project represents a qualitative addition within the comprehensive expansion plan to enhance the position of the emirate of Sharjah on the global travel map. We are pleased to continue the drive for excellence in the aviation sector through a clear vision and with the continued support of H.H. Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, member of the supreme council, Ruler of Sharjah, and H.E. Sultan Bin Muhammad Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, crown prince and deputy ruler, Sharjah. With determination will continue to provide facilities and services that guarantee the comfort and satisfaction of travellers and customers.”
