Royal Jordanian Airlines to Introduce Additional Flights from Cyprus

Royal Jordanian Airlines (RJ) plans to introduce additional flights from Cyprus, improved transit experience through Amman and special promotions for religious and adventure tourism into Jordan.

RJ and the Jordan Tourism Board held a networking event at Nicosia, Cyprus to present Royal Jordanian’s new strategy in line with highlighting Jordan as an attractive tourist destination. Attendees were travel trade partners, journalists, and governmental and diplomatic officials.

 Karim Makhlouf, chief commercial officer, RJ, gave a welcoming speech on this occasion, and pointed out that the Larnaca flights are a crucial part of the turnaround and growth plan the airline is currently implementing focusing on doubling the fleet in the next five years, positioning Amman as the leading gateway in the Levant and primarily stimulating tourism into Jordan.

 RJ will increase the connectivity and comfort for passengers travelling from Cyprus by offering complimentary hotel accommodation in Amman on their way to from Larnaca to other worldwide RJ destinations in US, Canada and Asia.

 Makhlouf commented, “We are committed to offer our passengers in Cyprus the best connectivity with our global network via Amman to over 40 worldwide destinations. To cater for their needs, passengers will receive free hotel accommodation for any long-haul connecting flight via Amman exceeding eight hours.”

 One of the main pillars of the new RJ strategy s is the focus on tourism to Jordan and the goal of working closely with Cyprus tour operators and travel agents, to increase the number of Cyprus tourists to Jordan. RJ introduced new attractive Tour operator fares for groups and individuals booking packages to Jordan.

 Makhlouf also presented RJ’s new five-year plan and strategy and said that beside developing Amman as the leading gateway for the region, RJ will focus on tourism and add the tour operator airline model to its operation in line with its new restructuring and growth plan. RJ is currently adding new destinations and boosting network connectivity from its Amman hub, in sync with the airline’s vision of becoming the preferred airline that connects Jordan and the Levant with the world.

 Makhlouf explained the new tourism focus and highlighted Jordan as an attractive destination for Cyprus tourists, who are only one hour away from this country that blends old world charm and ancient historical and religious sites in a thriving modern country. Jordan offers relaxation at the rejuvenating Dead Sea spas, in the lowest spot on earth. Tourists can also enjoy the beautiful beaches and stunning marine and coral life in Aqaba on the Red Sea shore. Historical sites in Jordan include Petra, one of the new seven wonders of the world, and the ancient Roman city of Jerash, which is one of the best-preserved Greco-Roman cities in the world. Religious sites include Bethany beyond the Jordan, where Jesus was baptized, along with numerous other Christian sites.
