QAIA Welcomes Over 654,000 Passengers in October

Registering an unprecedented record for previous October results, Airport International Group has announced that Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) received 654,791 passengers (PAX) in October, indicating a significant 9,2 percent increase compared to October 2017.

Moreover, aircraft movements (ACM) rose a substantial 11,5 percent to reach 6,173, whereas cargo handled decreased by 7,9 percent to settle at 9,165 tons as opposed to figures from the same month in 2017.

By the end of October, QAIA had welcomed 7,197,330 passengers, indicating a 5,8 percent year-to-date (YTD) growth in PAX measured against the first 10 months of 2017. Concurrently, YTD ACM came in at 65,261, amounting to a 2,9 percent rise, while the 86,685 tons of handled cargo resulted in a 4,1 percent YTD drop contrasted with the same period in 2017.

“We are excited to see that both passenger traffic and aircraft movements have surged notably during October. These positive figures were triggered by QAIA’s growing regional and international airline network, which is expanding the destinations to which Jordan is connected and, consequently, increasing the number of passengers coming through the Airport on a daily basis. As the year draws to a close, we look forward to witnessing the anticipated boost in activity that usually occurs around Christmas and New Year as expats travel back home and others choose to spend the holidays abroad,” commented Kjeld Binger, CEO, of Airport International Group.
