Ptolemaic Cemetery Found in Alexandria

It has been reported that a team of archaeologists unearthed a Ptolemaic cemetery while digging operations in Sidi Gaber district of Alexandria, Egypt.

According to Moustafa Waziri, secretary general, Supreme Council of Antiquities, the cemetery contains a coffin made of black granite. An eroded bust of a man was also found, said Ayman Ashmawi, senior official, Ministry of Antiquities, which is believed to be of to the person who originally owned the cemetery.

Generally, the Ptolemaic era refers to the Hellenistic kingdom based in Egypt which was ruled by the Ptolemaic Dynasty, starting with Ptolemy I Soter's accession after the death of Alexander the Great in 323 BC.
