More King Psmatik I Artefacts Uncovered in Egypt

What archaeologists believe is the head of a long-lost King Psmatik I statue and its 8.5 tonne stone torso are among the most important of 4,500 artefacts recently uncovered in Egypt.

Zahi Hawas, archaeologist, Egypt, revealed that the discovery is Egypt’s most important one, in the last seven years, and that the find has garnered global attention.

Ayman Al Ashmawy, head, department, antiquities, Egypt recently announced the discovery of the new King Psmatik I artefacts in the area of Souq El Khamis, Mataryia.

The find was made through collaboration between Egypt’s Ministry of State Antiquities and a German expedition mission, headed by Dietrich Rao.

The latest discovery brings the number of artefacts excavated to 6,400 pieces, helping the mission better visualise the state and reassemble it.
