Orascom Hotels Management (OHM), in partnership with Tadweera for Green Education, the national operator of the Green Key program in Egypt, have launched Green Key in Egypt during a landmark sustainability event hosted at Sheraton Miramar El Gouna on July 10. Having hosted hospitality professionals, sustainability experts and industry stakeholders, the event marks an important step in advancing internationally recognized sustainability standards across Egypt's tourism sector.

The partnership between Orascom Hotels Management and Tadweera reflects a shared commitment to supporting the continued development of sustainable tourism in Egypt. By combining Tadweera's expertise in environmental education and certification with OHM's long-standing commitment to responsible hospitality, the initiative aims to encourage wider adoption of international sustainability standards while reinforcing Egypt's position as a competitive and environmentally responsible tourism destination.

The selection of El Gouna as the host destination reflects the town's long-standing commitment to responsible tourism and sustainable hospitality practices. The event also celebrates the renewal of Green Key certification for all OHM-managed hotels in Egypt for the third consecutive year, reaffirming the company's continued dedication to internationally recognized environmental standards and continuous operational improvement.

Green Key is one of the world's leading environmental certification programmes for the tourism and hospitality sector, recognising hotels and tourism establishments that demonstrate excellence in environmental management, energy and water efficiency, waste reduction, resource conservation and social responsibility. Recognised internationally by travelers and major booking platforms, the certification enables tourism businesses to demonstrate their commitment to sustainable operations while strengthening their competitiveness in global markets.

As the national operator of Green Key in Egypt, Tadweera for Green Education plays a leading role in promoting environmental sustainability and supporting organisations in adopting globally recognised environmental standards. Through partnerships across the tourism sector, Tadweera contributes to advancing Egypt's sustainable tourism ambitions and supporting the country's broader environmental and climate objectives.

For Orascom Hotels Management, sustainability extends far beyond certification. Across its hotels, continuous efforts are made to reduce environmental impact through responsible energy and water management, waste reduction initiatives, employee and guest engagement, and operational improvements that enhance both the guest experience and long-term environmental performance. Sustainability remains an integral part of the company's approach to hospitality, with continuous investment in initiatives that create lasting environmental, social and economic value for guests, employees, local communities and the destinations in which it operates.

By jointly launching the Green Key program in Egypt, Tadweera and Orascom Hotels Management reaffirm their shared vision of accelerating sustainable tourism across the country. The partnership demonstrates how collaboration between environmental organisations and the hospitality sector can help raise industry standards, strengthen Egypt's international competitiveness and contribute to a more sustainable future for tourism.
