Morocco Attends 108th Session of UNWTO Executive Council

Lamia Boutaleb, state secretary, tourism, Morocco, lead the Moroccan delegation at the 108th session of the Executive Council of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), held in San Sebastian, Spain, from May 23 -- 25.

Speaking on the occasion, Boutaleb highlighted the tourism sector’s important role in the economic, social and territorial development of Morocco, as well as its significant contribution to the Kingdom’s macroeconomic balance.

Boutaleb stressed that Morocco is a country of openness, peace and tolerance, adding that its bid to host 2026 FIFA World Cup, would benefit the entire African continent if successful.

While in Spain, she also focused on discussing means to enhance bilateral relations in the tourism sector and Morocco’s bid to host the UNWTO General Assembly in 2021.
