The celebration included the flight of seven hot air balloons into the skies of AlUla, captained by pilots from around the world in the federation’s newly established base of operations.
The federation seeks to structure and promote the ballooning industry in the Kingdom, including hot air / airship ballooning activities, both competitively and for leisure.
The launch of the SAHAB Federation in AlUla comes following the success of Winter at Tantora’s inaugural Hot Air Balloon Festival when 100 hot air balloons lit up the skies of AlUla from January 31 to February 09.
The successful festival was the first step in showcasing AlUla, and Saudi Arabia, to the wider world as a picturesque and exciting destination for ballooning.
Spanning 10 magical weekends, it offered a peek into what adventure tourism in the region will look like. It showcased the very best AlUla has to offer – heritage, nature, local hospitality, culture and adventure, all of which make it the natural home for the SAHAB Federation.
