Dubai International (DXB) has registered a year of strong recovery and consistently robust growth in its customer base that propelled the annual passenger numbers to 66 million in 2022. The airport’s growth outpaced the annual forecast yet again in the final months of the year following an exceptionally strong fourth quarter.

Dubai International (DXB) has recorded the busiest quarter since 2020 with 13.6 million passengers in quarter one (Q1) of this year, indicating that traffic recovery is gaining momentum at the world’s busiest international hub. This is the second consecutive quarter when passenger traffic at DXB has surpassed the 10-million mark.

Bolstered by 5.5 million in passenger traffic in March, DXB’s passenger volumes rose to 13.6 million in the first quarter, up 15,7 percent compared to 11.8 million passengers in the final quarter of 2021. By comparison, DXB recorded 5.7 million passengers in the first quarter of 2021.

Dubai International (DXB) ended the first quarter (Q1) of the year on a relatively positive note, registering a gradual but steady recovery in both customer numbers and cargo volumes. By the end of Q1 of this year, DXB served 63 percent of the destinations in 89 percent of the countries on 74 percent of the airlines compared to before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dubai International (DXB) made positive strides towards recovery after a challenging year with a total of 25,9 million customers travelling through the airport in 2020, a decrease of 70 percent compared to 2019.

As part of its preparations for the ramp up of passenger flights, Dubai Airports has announced a strategic partnership with OSN, one of the region's leading entertainment provider, to give passengers at Dubai International (DXB) complimentary access to OSN's new streaming app, from July 14 of this year.
