Abu Dhabi gained the title of the world’s top destination for weddings in 2024 at the Event Management Federation (EMF) Ace Global Awards, the flagship gathering for India’s leading weddings and entertainment industry.

Destination wedding tourism as well as solo and female led travel and ecotourism, wellness, adventure and agritourism (EWAA) are defining the hospitality industry landscape, according to data released ahead of Arabian Travel Market 2020 (ATM), which takes place at Dubai World Trade Centre from April 19 – 22, 2020.

The region's growing popularity for destination weddings is attributable to a number of factors, as Nasser outlined, "Weddings in the region are, in general, a good combination of being beautiful and affordable, combined with the attractiveness of the country for tourism or honeymoon."

A large proportion of couples planning their big day within the MENA region are locals, unsurprising when considering the nature of weddings along with venues' knowledge of cultural needs.

Considered one of the most important events in one's life, weddings and honeymoons are becoming an increasingly important segment for hoteliers and tourism industry stakeholders in the MENA region.
