According to research by Oxford Economics, outbound travel from China is estimated to almost double this year, compared with 2023 and will only be 22 percent below its peak pre-pandemic numbers of 155 million tourists in 2019, who spent over USD250 billion overseas.

The number of Chinese tourists travelling to the GCC is expected to increase 54 percent from 1,4 million in 2018 to 2,2 million in 2023, growing at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 4,8 percent, according to data published ahead of Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2020.

The number of Chinese tourists travelling to the GCC is expected to increase 81 percent from 1.6 million this year to 2.9 million in 2022, according to data published ahead of Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2019, which takes place at Dubai World Trade Centre from April 28 – 1 May 01, 2019.
